‘Smarter together’

Under the guidance of Peter van der Vliet, former vice-president of KNAW, respresentatives of KNAW, VSNU and NWO are working on a report ‘Smarter together’, that will be published shortly. They investigate the results of less nationwide graduate schools and more graduate schools per university for research and PhD students.

Peter van der Vliet is former vice chairman of the Center for Biomedical Genetics, a top graduate school and a cooperation between 4 universities. In an interview Van der Vliet explains: ‘Universities, understandably, want to keep the quality care in own hands, but on the other hand there is the importance of research and PhD students, that requires cooperation’.
